Overview

Today, we can begin to reclaim the power of shamanism and incorporate its wisdom into our modern world. By exploring and integrating our shamanic powers, we bring wisdom and magic back into our lives. Shamans honour the four elements of air, fire, water, and earth, and know how to use the essence of each to create a stable foundation for the healing of self and others. Shamans listen to the flow of energy rather than working against it. Shamans are warriors, dedicated to serving the life force.

History

Shamanism is the oldest known healing modality and is recorded over 40,000 years into our past. Men as early as Cro-Magnon utilised a primary shamanistic tool, the drum, which is used by the shaman not as a musical instrument, but as a vehicle for travel to non-ordinary realities. Shamanism is used on every continent of our planet and the reasons for that are simple. It is widely used and has lasted the test of time because it works. Its techniques, while seemingly complex, are simple, efficient, and surprisingly effective.

Shamanism can offer immediate help to those suffering pain from abuse, trauma or injury. It can restore your sense of power, giving you renewed strength in your daily life. It addresses the spiritual components of illness making other forms of treatment more effective (and sometimes performing miracle healings). You can retrieve your own helping spirits who can give you wisdom and a sense of comfort and well being. Shamanic work speeds physical and emotional recovery, making your days brighter fast.

Benefits

There are four main forms of shamanism that can be helpful to most people: Shamanic Counselling, Soul Retrieval, Extraction and Divination.

Shamanic Counselling
This is a process during which clients are taught how to journey to their guiding spirits on their own. Once there, they can ask for an answer to a specific question, for guidance or healing. When you become proficient at this, you can ask for help both for yourself or for others (with their permission).

Procedure

Soul Retrieval
When events happen in our lives (especially at an early age), a part of our soul can be lost or left behind. This often causes pattern of experiences and behaviours that may continue throughout the rest of our lives. During a soul retrieval, the shaman journeys with the help of his guiding spirits to find and bring back the missing parts of the soul.

Extraction
When events (physical and emotional) occur in our lives, there can be negative energy left in the body. During an extraction, the shaman journeys and actually extracts the left-over negative energy. This involves actually pulling out or removing the negative energy from an individual. A client may often feel a pulling sensation and/or a feeling of great lightness after the extraction. After the negative energy is removed, the shaman replaces it with positive energy.

Divination
This is an exercise during which the shaman journeys to his or her guiding spirits with a question, for themselves or for others. There are a variety of methods by which the shaman can get this information. The information will usually be a series of images which may be either literal or metaphorical. The shaman will review the information with the client and help him or her analyse possible meanings.
