OverviewThe term "Feng Shui" (fung schway) means "Wind and Water". Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of placement or energy flow used by a number of interior designers today. This energy is called chi, which is our life energy. Chi must flow unobstructed within the home to produce a healthy, happy environment. Our external environment affects our internal state of beingness. With Feng Shui we learn to live with what we love, and let go of those things, which cause negative feelings within our environment. In Feng Shui, everything in the environment has an effect upon our body, mind, or spirit. HistoryDeveloped over 8,000 years ago as a system of how to survive and excel in harmony with nature, feng shui theories came from logical assumptions about natural causes and effects that endured through time. Passed down from generation to generation, only a select few understand the phenomenon of feng shui in its entirety. The complexity and correct application of feng shui takes many years to learn from a master. Feng shui is based on the Taoist philosophies of nature: these include the Yin-Yang Theory, Five Element Theory and the trigrams of the trigrams of the Yi-Jing. Today, feng shui is a multi-disciplinary study encompassing architecture, urban planning, geography, astrology, electromagnetism, landscape design, environmental psychology, and many others. BenefitsFeng Shui is a Chinese philosophy about the relationship between humans and their environment. It is about how everything is connected and affects your well-being. Based on the laws of nature, its theories offer us a way of understanding why certain things occur and how to create a comfortable environment that lets us live and work efficiently and progressively. Feng Shui used within the commercial space can improve customer/employee/management relations, increase productivity on the job, thus increasing profit margins. ProcedureObviously, procedures will vary from feng shui consultant to consultant – please consider the following as a general guide. A typical ‘private’ consultation includes an evaluation of the home, a personalised analysis/ profile for a limited number of family members, pinpointing exact interaction within the living environment and a detailed write-up of suggested adjustments for the home. Consultations take about 2 hours. Source of information: www.designwisdom-fengshui.com | www.liu-fengshui.com |
