Overview

Polarity Therapy is a very effective form of treatment which is much sought after in this age of holistic and complementary approaches to ill health. This approach to health and healing employs a profound system that blends both eastern and western concepts of health. It deals with the whole person, mentally, emotionally and physically, by helping the body to heal itself naturally. Polarity Therapy is truly a complementary science. It recognises that energy has to move from a positive to a negative pole, through a neutral field. This scientific law is fundamental to the movement of energy throughout the universe and the earth around us: it manifests in our physical body as energetic currents.

Polarity Therapy works on many different levels: subtle energy; nervous, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and digestive systems; gynaecological (excellent in pregnancy and after-care) and at emotional and mental levels. It has been found useful in dealing with many varied and different expressions of disease by unlocking the holding patterns that create the systems.

History

Polarity Therapy is a natural health care system founded by Dr Randolph Stone based upon the universal principles of energy: attraction, repulsion and neutrality. The interrelation of these universal principles form the basis of every aspect of life, including our experience of health, well-being, illness and disease.

Benefits

Polarity Therapy addresses the interdependence of body, mind and spirit; the importance of relationships; the value of creating a way of life in harmony with nature. As part of the larger field of Energy Medicine, Polarity Therapy complements existing systems with an integrated, holistic model. Polarity Therapy is a transforming influence for change in health care and in wellness education.

Procedure

A trained Registered Polarity Practitioner (RPP) can incorporate any of the following aspects:

Bodywork
The therapist uses a series of subtle and/or deep qualities of touch, which allows the client's energy system to seek balance through facilitating previously unconscious tissue memory to surface. This incorporates three levels of touch: sattvic (very light), rajasic (stimulating) and tamasic (deep). It is important to note that where the client does not wish to have touch contact, the therapist will respect his/her wishes. This process can be relaxing and restorative; it can also allow emotional and personal issues to surface and become clearer.

Awareness/Process Skills A Polarity
Therapist will allow the client's own inherent "knowing" to emerge in its own time by building a secure therapeutic relationship. This increased awareness, together with the release of unconscious tissue memory, enables us to realise our own potential.

Health Building and/or Cleansing Diets and Procedures
These can be used to help detoxify the system. This in turn will free up the held life giving energy. Each person is assessed individually, as no one procedure is correct for everyone.

Polarity Stretching Exercises
These not only release stagnation but also allow the client to continue and maintain their own healing process.

These are the four aspects of Polarity Therapy that enables us to take responsibility for our wellbeing.
