OverviewKirlian Photography makes visible the body's biological and energetic exchange producing a 'corona' effect around the image being photographed ie the hands. These images can be 'read' by experienced practitioners giving information about the subject's energetic, physical, emotional and psychological state. HistoryIn 1939 a Russian engineer, Semyon Kirlian chanced to see an electrical discharge from a high-voltage machine being used in a medical laboratory. He wondered what would happen if a photographic plate were placed in the vicinity of this discharge. He placed his hand near the machine and interposed the plate. When developed, he found "a sort of luminescence in the shape of the contours of the fingers". BenefitsThe electrical field of the Kirlian camera amplifies and makes visible the body's biological and energetic exchange producing a "corona" effect around the image being photographed. Experienced Kirlian practitioners can 'read' from the subtle emanations information about the subject's energetic, physical, emotional and psychological state, as well as evidence of disease before it manifests in the physical body. ProcedureThe photo-sensitive paper is placed directly onto the machine and the hands (or whatever is being photographed) are then placed, one at a time, onto the paper while the Kirlian machine is energised for a few seconds. The paper is then developed in the normal way. *Aura: open to much speculative interpretation, the word is used here to include radiations, electromagnetic frequencies, life force, bio-plasma etc. Source of information: Hampshire practitioner Julie Wright |
