Overview

Iridology is a preventive, diagnostic method that permits the doctors to "read" every hidden disease in the eyes, long before the appearance of the symptoms. The eyes are not only the mirror of the soul, but also of the body. It is possible, with a diagnostic "reading" of the iris (the coloured part of the eye), to discover all the weak parts of the organism, the latent tendencies, the crisis of the patient, his vitality, the condition of the organs and many others pathologies in progress.

History

Iridology, as a science, was born in the previous century. Still, the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, and Chinese understood the importance of the eye in order to examine the human's health. Hypocrites said: "Behold the eyes, behold the body".

While eyes have been a focus in civilizations throughout the ages, "modern" Iridology started just over 100 years ago. In the late 1800's, a physician from Hungary and another from Sweden began observing eyes and organizing their findings. This process of observation and correlating has been slow, but it established a foundation for others to build on. The first book on Iridology in America, by an emigrated Austrian physician, was printed in 1904. This was followed by the works of N.D.s and other naturopathic oriented M.D.s.

Procedure

During a consultation you will be examined with an Iriscope (magnifying glass with light). It is quite likely you will be asked questions on your health, past and present, about your medical history and lifestyle and based on what's been seen your Iridologist will gather a picture of your health.
